I had a really WOW gig tonight – 3 piece rhythm plus myself. My chops have never felt this amazing. I was able to play all night, regularly going to high D and E, without feeling any strain or tiredness. After I finished the gig my chops felt as fresh as when I started: no pinching, no strain, no pain. I’ve never come out of a gig feeling so fresh. And with this relaxed feeling in my chops I was able to concentrate on the music. So, my improvement was the best ever. I received excellent comments from some very fine pros that were there. My flugelhorn sound was buttery smooth and my trumpet was brilliant and cutting like a knife. Intonation was so spot on that the pros said it sounded like the band was playing one instrument. I’m on my way!
Molto, molto thanks to Jerry, as always.

I received the flugel mouthpiece today. I played it for about 45 minutes. (Couldn't put it down.) I love it. It's got so much centered, it seems to play like a trumpet mouthpiece. My other flugel mouthpieces seem to swim all over the place and tire me out. I'm really happy with it. Nice work (again!).

Hi Mr. Callet, I am in Calgary, Canada now - working hard to make enough money to study with you again. Do you have some new diagrams? I will be happy to see some because I am having some trouble. I am spitting and trying to tongue stop but I can’t get enough contact between the tongue and the lips. Hope you are doing well.

Alex Bernstein, Israel

I will send you the latest diagram. Let me know your mailing address.

I started using your method 19 months ago and purchased one of your mouthpieces which I have been using for about 14 months. The playing comfort is better than any mouthpiece I have ever used. The range continues to climb ever so slowly with much less effort using you technique.
I would like to purchase a second mouthpiece as a back up. I play a silver Reeves Raptor (recommended by Jim Manley) that has gold trim. Do you gold plate your mouthpieces and/or would recommend it?

Rene' Brunel

Your mouthpiece must be Superchops1 model. We released Superchops2 model this April. It has more comfortable rim and more air efficiency. Please visit our website and call me for more information. We do not do gold plate and I personally like silver plated.

Why did the SOUND of a few select vintage trumpets surpass all modern trumpets? I needed to know the reason!

In 2003, after retiring from my trumpet manufacturing business, I began a new challenge: to uncover the hidden secrets of the greatest vintage horns. This was a very exciting 5 year project - buying, testing, tearing apart, and analyzing 75 of finest trumpets ever made. Gradually, I began to fully understand the intricate details that distinguished the few truly superior trumpets. The result – the Callet SIMA. The beautiful sound of the world’s greatest trumpets has returned!

I gave my mother’s name, Sima, to this new design. And, I am thrilled to report that the initial response to the SIMA has surpassed my highest expectations. I’m overjoyed by the number of wonderful classical, jazz, and pop performers around the world who have so quickly made the SIMA their #1 choice.

Yes, we are having trouble keeping the SIMA in stock. But, we continue to make them as promptly as handcrafting permits. Please call me now so I can reserve one for you. It is my great pleasure to share the beauty of a SIMA.

I played the SIMA tonight on the Blues Brother gig. The guys in the band said that it was really bright, clean, and cutting. (All good- especially for this type of high volume performance situation.) The SIMA horn is really easy to play and plenty of sizzle!!!! It's a different sound all together. Very unique, I'm very impressed-but not surprised. Congratulations Jerome. My Scodwell plays similar in many ways but not as bright. Nonetheless, the SIMA does play with a gorgeous tone.

I played the SIMA the last 2 nights with Donny & Marie in their show at the Flamingo. The SIMA is incredibly responsive. Intonation is superb, overall a lot of enjoyment playing the horn. Moreover, even though I've only played the horn 4 days, little adjustment is required. The SIMA is...Pure, center, core, focus, and brilliance. It is my opinion that the horn is going to help, aid and add to all areas deficient in ones playing. I absolutely love the SIMA!! Thank you so much for your dedication, passion, and love of the trumpet & students.

Firstly I would like to tell you how I am getting on with the Superchops 2 mouthpiece. It's great! I loved the SC1 mouthpiece (as you know, I have two of them), however I like the SC2 even more now I have had time to adjust to it. It has a great sound, and I find that the slotting and intonation is excellent. I am using the SC2 mouthpiece for all of my playing now.

Secondly I am in the process of creating my own Blog entitled "David's Superchops Blog". I have a link from my site to your Master Superchops Site. Since I started learning your method I have kept a log of everything that has helped me progress further (like using the right mouthpiece!), and what and how to practice etc. Hopefully I will get lots of comments back, and it should be a fun way to make new contacts in the trumpet world, and particularly those using the Superchops method.

Hi Jerry I have been vacationing and recording in the state of Florida and play my new SIMA trumpet everyday! I absolutely love this trumpet, it has improved my sound, intonation and range big time. Wow thank you for your constant pursuit of the perfect trumpet! I am in Orlando, Florida preparing for my new vocal and solo trumpet recording release and feel ever more confident and ready thanks to your teachings and now the SIMA trumpet.

I got the SIMA trumpet late yesterday and spent the rest of the evening playing it. As you know, I already have one of the best trumpets that money can buy. But as you told me "You try the SIMA and you will sell your trumpet". That is just what I am going to do except that I'm just going to clean it up and lay it away as a collectors item. The SIMA is, without doubt, the best horn I have ever played on. It has beautiful tonal quality and plays consistently and in-tune throughout the registers. Pedal tones are right there and the notes like F and G above High-C just jump out of the horn. I played passages of different songs on both horns with my wife critically listening and in every case they sounded better and were easier to play on the SIMA. My wife and I played several duets to see how well it sounded with another horn and it sounded wonderful. And thank goodness I don't have to mess with the first valve slide anymore. The low D's and C sharps are in tune for the first time in my life without having to push them around.

You have done all of us trumpet players a great service in your 5-year study of the great horns and then creating a single horn with all of their best qualities! Thank you very much and God bless you.

Jerry and I had a real nice time at the Maryland Trumpet Day. Not as much attendance as we might have liked, but all very nice people, and very well run.
The reception to the SIMA was very strong - 2 sold and more in the works as soon as wives agree! :>) What was very noticeable was the group that spent the afternoon at our booth - the stronger, more developed players quickly gathered 'round. And, they enthusiastically pulled their friends over to check the horns out. This gave us an opportunity to compare many current top horns to the SIMA. The head-to-head comparisons were very reassuring. Jerry has definitely hit the nail on the head with the SIMA.

Thanks for your new SIMA trumpet; it’s AMAZING!!! For the last two weeks, I have played it exclusively and everyone has noticed my new sound. Within 10 minutes on my new Superchops 2 mouthpiece and SIMA trumpet, it was obvious that there was no comparison to my old instrument (your Stratosphere and Superchops 1 mouthpiece). Improved attack, centre of sound, intonation and consistent column of sound in all registers made playing difficult passages effortless. Just two days after receiving your trumpet and mouthpiece, I played a major recital to an audience that was familiar with my sound. They all thought it was one of my best performances. I have since played it as a soloist in big bands, concert bands and church services with every performance sounding great. Your SIMA trumpet with the Superchops 2 mouthpiece is the finest combination that I have ever played. Jerome, you have truly created the Holy Grail of trumpets!

Thought you would like to see our Sextet playing for a Veteran's Day Dinner. The SIMA plays wonderfully. It is a real joy to play on it. It gives a very stable sound for the Sextet with great intonation. Thanks again.
